Day1- Marrakech – Ait Ben Hadou Kasbah –  Ouarzazate

We depart from Marrakech, known as the “Red City” and a significant former imperial city in Morocco’s rich history. Located at the base of the majestic snow-capped Atlas Mountains, our journey takes us through captivating Berber villages scattered along the picturesque foothills. En route, we encounter the remarkable Ait Ben Hadou Kasbah, a fortified village dating back to the 11th century and recognized as a Universal Heritage site. Continuing our drive, we arrive at Ouarzazate, often referred to as the Hollywood of Africa due to its prominent filmmaking studios. Our route leads us through the longest valley in the kingdom, spanning an impressive 1052 kilometers, and showcasing the largest palm tree oases. We finally reach Agadez, where we will spend the night.

day2 – Agadez – Draa Valley – Zagora – Draa Valley – Chigaga

We proceed along the enchanting Draa Valley, passing by Zagora, where remnants of an Almoravid fortress still stand. Our journey takes us through Tamagrout, situated on the banks of the Draa River. In this quaint town, we explore one of the oldest libraries in the kingdom.
Continuing along the Draa Valley, we reach M’hamid, a modest village that closely resembles the villages we have encountered thus far. From a vast plateau, we are greeted by the magnificent Chigaga sand dune, a sight that leaves us in awe. We embark on a camel ride to
witness the breathtaking sunset amidst the towering sand dunes. Tonight, we find accommodation in a Berber camp, allowing us to marvel at the stunning starry night sky.

Day3 – Chigaga – Taznakht – Ait Ben Hadou Kasbah

Leaving Chigaga behind, our journey takes us through vast stretches of serene and captivating wilderness, including a visit to the natural dried lake of Iriki, which, three decades ago, was teeming with water and various bird species. After traversing a long off-road stretch, we return to the regular road and pass through the quiet and peaceful Berber town of Foum-Zguid. A stopover in Taznakht awaits us—a former trading post and one of the kingdom’s largest centers for carpets. Following an easy drive, we arrive once again at the
historic Ait Ben Hadou Kasbah, where we will spend the night.

Day4 – Ait Benhaddou Kasbah – Marrakech

Merely 40 kilometers from Ait Benhaddou Kasbah lies the Kasbah of Telout—a former caravan route connecting the Sahara to Marrakech over the Atlas Mountains. This Kasbah served as the seat of power for the influential El Glaoui family, who were granted political
authority over southern Morocco by King Moulay Hassan. The Glaouis held significant influence, rivalling that of the sultan himself. Although the palace is gradually deteriorating, visitors can still explore its premises, and restoration efforts were initiated in 2010. We enjoy lunch in the scenic Pass of Tichka before making our way to our final destination, Marrakech.
